ViVeTool - How to Enable and Disable Experimental Features in Windows Insider Builds
Application Software Download Free Windows
ViveTool is a third-party tool that allows users to unlock experimental or hidden features in the latest Insider builds of Windows 11. However, enabling these features can result in instabilities and bugs. Therefore, it’s important to back up your computer and create restore points before using this tool.
Basically, the tool uses feature IDs—part of Windows Feature Management—to identify and enable new features. For example, if you want to enable the search bar in Task Manager, you can type vivetool /enable /id:39263329 to activate it on your computer.
In addition to enabling experimental features, the tool also allows you to disable them. To do so, simply launch the command prompt and type vivetool /disable. After that, restart your computer to apply the changes.
A few weeks ago, Microsoft accidentally leaked its internal tool to enable in-development features on Insider builds of Windows 11, which is similar to the third-party ViveTool app. The tool is known as StagingTool, and although the company has removed it from the Feedback Hub, copies of the tool are now spreading across the internet.
The app comes with a GUI version that makes it easy to use, and it has a built-in list of currently available features. You can also manually enter a specific feature ID to activate or disable it. Interestingly, the GUI version can also show a current feature store change stamp and add or remove feature usage notification subscriptions. The program also contains the ViVe library, which allows power users to get access to new feature control APIs in recent Windows Insider builds.
